Červenka lies on the left bank of the Čerlinka stream. It is three kilometres north of Litovel and about 18 kilometres north-west of Olomouc. The Česká Třebová–Přerov railway line runs through the municipality, and a regional line connects Červenka station with Litovel and Prostějov.

The first written record of the municipality dates from 1287; a charter of King Wenceslas II names it Schwarcpach. Redemptorists built the Church of St Alphonsus in 1862. The older Chapel of St Paulina dates from 1798. The municipal Sokol hall, built in 1927, is used for sport and social events, and the municipality rents it out.
