Žerotín lies in the Haná region, roughly in the middle of the triangle formed by Šternberk, Uničov and Litovel. The village has about 450 residents.

Žerotín was first mentioned in writing in 1131 and is the cradle of the Moravian noble family of Žerotín. The Augustinian monastery of Šternberk built the Baroque château in Žerotín in 1751 as a summer residence. Today, the château is privately owned and inaccessible. In the former castle garden stands the hollow oak Koráb, dating from 1835, with a table and bench inside it.
