Skrbeň's first written record dates to 1174, when the village came into the possession of the Church of St Wenceslas in Olomouc. The Church of St Florian was consecrated in 1835 and became a parish church in 1869, when a cemetery was also established in the village. The Baroque statue of St Florian by Václav Render, dating from 1706, originally adorned Dolní náměstí in Olomouc and was moved to Skrbeň in 1742.
