Dubčany lies about 6 km south of Litovel. The village was first mentioned in writing in 1342. It has retained its old Slavic circular village layout: houses form a ring around the village green, and the entrance is still called Brána.

On the village green in Dubčany stands the Chapel of St Isidore, patron saint of farmers, built in 1869 on the site of an older chapel. Dubčany belongs to the parish in neighbouring Cholína. The parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is mentioned as early as 1326.
